In 2016, after moving from Lugansk to the territory controlled by the state, Lugansk Regional Scientific Library fully resumed as the main methodical center for libraries of Lugansk region. Now Library provides methodical support for 311 public libraries which function on territory of the region.
Last year the library has organized nine regional seminars, workshops and conferences for specialists library district libraries field. Issues that were in the spotlight:
• transformation of public libraries
• library advocacy
• promotion of modern Ukrainian literature
• Library project activities
• Implementation “Strategy of development libraries in Ukraine till 2025”
Specialists of our library organized 23 trainings (6 of them – as webinars) devoted transformation of public libraries; carried out 4 visits with advices to districts: Milovskoy, Markovskiy, Svatovsky, Stanychno-Luhansky and 5 visits to towns and villages to Lugansk region: Popasna, Belovodsk, Kreminna, Troitsk, Novoaydar. 4 methodical recommendations were prepared.
Methodical department of Library coordinated of implementation of electronic reporting of libraries in the State Electronic Monitoring Library System.
Particular attention was paid by Library to the problem of promotion of reading in libraries, promotion of the modern Ukrainian books among region’s citizens . In this direction were taken the following steps:
• Support of project "Road to the East", thanks to it the library received 3 thousand new books.
• Support of initiative "Living Library”. Results of this project - libraries of region not only received new books, but also organized meetings with modern Ukrainian writers.
During the year public libraries of region had received books by the program "Ukrainian Book" supported by Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. All under this program 50 thousand new books were received.
Library became a partner of All-Ukrainian BookСrossing project "Open Library".
January, 2016 was restored official web-site of Library.
Since March, 2016 was restored a Virtual Library Reference Service.
Since June, 2016 in the library has been working Press-office, which help to expand an information about Library. Press-office's staff have been preparing releases about situation in which the Library, and trying to draw attention to its problems.
There were prepared 7 publications in professional library press and have been performed ongoing weekly digests about working Lugansk regional library and other libraries of region in Ukrainian media.
On July, 2016 registration of readers started.
Since 2016 the library has been renting premises in Starobil'sk and providing services to readers.
Work on development of library collection is continuing. At the end of the year total amount of our collection was 3 thousand books.
Electronic library catalog was created, which introduced 3063 entries at the end of the year.
During 4 months of 2016 the library was visited by 3550 people, 352 patrons were registered and 5,900 copies of books were given out.
